Master Artists & Emerging Talents at Florence’s International Ceramics Fair

The 26th International Ceramics Fair will take place in Florence from Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 in Piazza Santa Croce. The fair will be open from 10 am to 7 pm and has free admission.
The market will showcase over 90 artists from across Europe, ranging from master ceramicists to emerging talent. The fair will also feature hands-on experiences such as clay workshops – scheduled for 10 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 6 pm – as well as live pottery wheel demonstrations. Exhibited and for sale are vases, mugs, teapots, design objects for the home and other decorative items in addition to jewellery
This year, the event’s mission revolves around looking at and promoting the future of the arts and ceramics world, and is therefore dedicated to generational transition and the inclusion of young ceramists. They will have the opportunity to present their work and engage with an international audience through the fair.
The fair will also work to promote the “Mi espongo” project, which is dedicated to artisans under 35 who are not yet professionals, who will be given the opportunity to exhibit one or two works in a group show. “Mi espongo” represents a unique opportunity for young ceramists, who often lack a fully equipped workshop or a complete portfolio, to showcase their research and ideas in an international context, all while highlighting new artistic sensibilities to the public.
“This event was created to showcase the artisan-artist and his work, the fruit of research and experimentation, ” said Stefano Giusti, president of the Ceramic Art Association. “This year, too, Piazza Santa Croce will become an open-air art gallery, a meeting place for different generations, experiences, and cultures.”
The fair is open to children, families, and all others interested. For more information, refer to the Association of Ceramists website. (Caroline Woodward)
