‘Medici in Love’ Talk Sheds Light on an Ancient Mystery

Francesco de’ Medici and Bianca Cappello

This week, Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA CAPA) partners with Palazzo Galli Tassi for the last of their Fall 25 lecture series held in English on Wednesday, November 19. All are invited to the lecture, delivered by Stefano Corazzini, titled ‘Medici in Love.’

Stefano Corazzini is a cultural mediator at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and works as a professor at the International Studies Institute in Florence (ISI Florence).

The lecture will explore themes of love and power through of the life of Francesco I de ‘Medici, the eldest son of Cosimo I de ‘Medici, whose infatuation with Bianca Cappello from Venice led to an unfortunate fate. Francesco’s decision to marry Bianca defied the wishes of his family. The act infuriated his brother Ferdinando, who believed their marriage endangered the Medici lineage.

The circumstances revolving around the death of Francesco and Bianca remains unsolved by modern sciences, with only one suspect – his brother and successor, Ferdinando.

Join the event at Palazzo Galli Tassi, Via Pandolfini 20, 1st floor at 6.30 pm.  There will be refreshments provided to follow.
