More Rain in Florence after Red Alert

Heavy rain is forecast for Florence after the red alert of March 14-15 when the Arno river rose to a level of 4.29 meters (14 ft.), reaching the first warning level (three meters or 10 ft.) but below the second warning level (5.50 meters or 18 ft) thanks to violent storms. The precipitation is expected to fall during the evening of March 15 and the early hours of March 16, possibly triggering a second red alert.
Schools, parks, gardens, cemeteries, libraries, sports facilities and museums in addition to outdoor markets will remain closed until Monday, March 17; all weekend events are canceled.
