Nov. 8 Comprenhensive Transport Strike
A 24-hour nationwide strike has been announced in the public transport sector for Friday, November 8, affecting buses and tram service. Several companies in Florence, including Autolinee Toscane, have confirmed their participation in the protest, which will disrupt all public transportation in Tuscany. The strike is organized by unions such as FILT CGIL, FIT CISL, UIL Trasporti, FAISA Cisal, and UGL Fna. As a result, urban and intercity services across Tuscany will experience significant disruptions and cancellations.
This is the first time in 19 years that the strike will occur without any guaranteed time slots, Only a few buses operated by drivers not participating in the strike will run from 4:15 am to 8:14 am and from 12:30 to 2:29 pm; more about the very limited bus services: https://www.at-bus.it/it/scioperofirenze.
The unions are demanding the renewal of the national collective contract. Strikers wish for an increase in minimum wages and better working conditions. Additionally, they want greater security and sustainability for the public transportation sector. (Paulina Juzak)
