MUSEUM OPENINGS: Many Florence landmarks and museums will be closed for the Ferragosto Italian mid-summer holiday, August 15, but the following will be accessible to visitor today. These include the Uffizi Gallery from 9 am – 6:30 pm, ticket price €20) and the Pitti Palace museums (Palatine Gallery, Modern Art Gallery, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes — formerly the Silver Museum — in addition to Fashion and Costume Museum), all between 8:30 am and 1;30 pm.  Visitors who arrive at the Pitti Palace complex before 9:25 am will receive a discount of 50% on admission, paying €8 instead of €16.  The Boboli Gardens will be open on Ferragosto from 8:45 am – 6:30 pm, entrance €10.
