Silent Peace Walk to San Miniato and Vigil

The public is invited to join in a silent, candlelight peace procession on Monday, October 23 starting at 6:30 pm from Florence’s Ponte alle Grazie to the church of San Miniato al Monte. Adherents of all faiths and political creeds are welcome to participate but without carrying signs, “united to bring an end to the violence in the Middle East” as they walk through the neighborhood of San Niccolò up the hill of Monti alle Croci to Piazzale Michelangelo, ending in the church square with a magnificent overlook above Florence. The appeal of the abbot of San Miniato, “is one of bringing light to a dark moment, and to meditate on peace and hope,” as expressed by Father Bernardo Gianni in a post on his Facebook page.
