The 2022 Children’s Library Easter Party

With Easter just around the corner, many organizations are preparing for the holiday, including Florence’s Children’s Lending Library.

Saturday, April 9: Children’s Lending Library’s Easter Party. Undercroft of the church of St. James, via Rucellai 9, Florence. 4 – 6 pm. Entrance: 1 child: €3. Families with 2 or more children: €5. Accompanying adults and children under the age of two are free of charge. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Children’s Lending Library’s spring fundraiser will revolve around an iconic Easter tradition in English-speaking countries: Easter egg decoration. Children can also participate in crafts and games, a lottery and additionally, refreshments will be served. Used books and toys are being sold as well. Kids should bring their own medium-sized hardboiled eggs, preferably white. Extra hardboiled eggs will be on sale.

The party is for library members only (new memberships and renewals at the door) but each family is allowed to invite a friend who will only be charged the entrance fee.

The best-known reading center for bilingual kids in Florence, the Children’s Lending Library offers picture books, primary and easy readers, nonfiction, reference and junior fiction, all in English. Nestled below the American Church between the train station and Porta a Prato, the library contains 1,000 volumes; in the past volunteers have organized readings, and activities such as drawing and dramatizations.

Annual membership is €15 (per family/permanent residents), allowing to take home 10 books each for two weeks.
