The 2025 Firenze Marathon Weekend in Downtown Florence

Sun. 30: FIRENZE MARATHON. Starts and ends in Piazza Duomo. 8:30 am.

While participation is sold out, the public can watch the marathon on a route will pass by centuries of art, history and culture here in Florence.  Firenze Marathon itself is 42.195 kilometers (26 mi).Expect to see the fastest runner receive their awards around 11:15 am in Piazza Duomo, while the last participants are expected to arrive at 2:30 pm. 

The event will be preceded by the 3k (1.86 mile) Ginky Family Run on November 29, departing from the Cascine Park’s Visarno Ippodromo at 9:30 am, is an event aimed at kids. The goal is to unite younger and older generations through sport and involve as many people in the city as possible. 

Many streets will be closed to traffic until mid-afternoon, including viale Matteotti, via Ponte  alle Mosse, via Bronzino, viale Gramsci, viale Giovine Italia, Lungarno Pecori Giraldi and  others. Ponte alla Vittoria, the city’s boulevards will be off limits and and the tramway service limited. 

Many bus lines, which include the 1, 8, 12-13, 14, 17, 20, C1, C2, C3 and the C4 – will be canceled from the morning to early afternoon hours. Lines 6, 7, 10, 11, 17, 23, 25, 30, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37 and 55 will experience longer transit times due to being rerouted. 

Registered runners will be given a kit containing ASICS running gear and promotional material. The cloakroom will be located at Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with refreshment points available every five kilometers and bathrooms are located in each stop including the arrival area and at Santa Maria Novella. Bus shuttle service is available to anyone who withdraws during the race. A certificate of participation can be downloaded from the web site, with a medal given to all runners who complete the marathon.
