The AILO (American International League of Florence) Spring Fair will be held at Il Conventino (Via Giano della Bella, 20), Florence, on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22. For sale is fashion, white elephant vintage goods and handmade items.  Hours: Sat. 12 noon – 6 pm, Sun. 10 am – 6 pm.  Free admission.

At AILO’s annual spring  fair, visitors can find some special gems. With mid-end to high-end products of fashion, with names such as Ferragamo and Gucci, there is value at amazingly discounted prices.  Next to the mid/high-end products, visitors can also find beachwear, jeans, T-shirts, and handmade costume jewelry. Other stands at the fair showcase silverware, vases and pots, handbags, books in English and Italian, and other items. To discover the best finds, it’s recommended to visit in the morning.

The donated money that AILO has gathered together goes to multiple charities, which have all been carefully selected by members, securing that each charity can fund a project. To make sure the money has been put to good use, members of the League visit the charity later on to see how the donation has been put to use. Whereas most non profits are new, some charities—such as Associazione Pantagruel — have received donations by AILO before at Donation Day. Possible recipient of the proceeds from this year’s Spring Fair include the San Felice church, Viva Vittoria for abused women, and Itaca.   (ted de veer)
