The Debut of Florence’s First Cat Cafe
Looking for the perfect place to grab a cappuccino while studying? Or to be more specific, would you want to enjoy that cappuccino while being in the presence of cats? If so, you are in luck as the brand-new Cat Café Firenze, located on Via Giuseppe Verdi, 18/R is ready to welcome guests to meet new furry friends.
This Café will have you smiling the moment you walk in as I was kindly greeted by a welcoming employee, Maria Casal. As well as Ringo, one of the five cats who roam around the Café.
The Café celebrated its grand opening in February as staff welcomed customers to experience the mission the owner and workers saw for the Café.
“The mission behind this Café is a combination of some of the best things,” said Maria, who is a cat lover herself. “You have the love for the cats, and the love which comes from the Italians enjoying the love from the cats, it creates a perfect match and atmosphere.”
There are a total of five exotic-looking Bengal cats, four males who are named after the Beatles: John, George, Paul, and Ringo. The female is named Yoko, said Maria. They are all about seven months old and have been vaccinated, neutered, and spayed.
Safety for the cats is prominent as the Café uses double-sided doors to ensure protection for the cats to stay contained inside. Once the first door opens, the second door will remain shut until the first door closes, keeping a barrier in place at all times.
The Cat Café staff kindly asks that you leave your furry pets at home so the bandmates can enjoy their safe space as they all grew up together and are comfortable with each other. Although they are very excited and curious to meet all the new faces that will enter through the doors of the Café.
Seeing the sweet four-legged pets comfort customers while roaming around and spreading joy makes this Café a very special addition to Florence.
“I love engaging with customers being around cats which makes this place perfect,” said Maria. “People can come and enjoy each other’s company, listen to music, and the best part… play with the cats.”
