The ‘Duomo,’ Florence’s Cathedral, Closes to the Public

Due to lack of personnel, a number of whom are diagnosed with COVID-19 or in quarantine because of the virus, Florence’s Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, will be off-limits to tourists beginning December 27, 2021 through rest of the holiday season and extending into the New Year.

The Duomo will continue to be accessible to both residents and visitors for Mass, celebrated Monday to Saturday according to following schedule: 8:30 am (in Latin), 10 am and 6 pm (in Italian), and on Sundays and holidays at 9 am (in Italian), 10:30 am (in Latin with Gregorian chant) and 6 pm (in Italian accompanied by organ music).  (rosanna cirigliano)
