The ‘Estate Fiorentina’s’ 2026 Summer Events

As summer arrives in Florence, the city’s streets and piazzas are once again preparing to turn into open-air stages for music, film, dance, and art. returns from June 1 through September 30 with four months of cultural events designed to bring people together through creativity, entertainment, and conversation.
This year’s program, titled Summer Days, includes festivals, performances, talks, and artistic projects taking place across every Florentine neighborhood. From historic squares and gardens to parks and cultural spaces, the festival transforms Florence into a citywide celebration of the arts. More than just one event, Estate Fiorentina is made up of many smaller festivals and initiatives that highlight both international talent and local culture.
The program features 1,238 events throughout the summer, with locations including the Rose Garden, Le Murate Literary Café, Piazza Tasso, Anconella Park, and the former campsite at Piazzale Michelangelo. From cinema and literature to live music and dance, the festival offers something different almost every day of the season.
One of the summer’s most meaningful events is Costruiamo la Pace, taking place July 11 and 12. Organized by the Beatmi association and directed by internationally known singer-songwriter and peace ambassador Noatogether with Gil Dor, the event focuses on peace and cultural dialogue through music and discussion. Performances and conversations will be held at the Cascine Amphitheater and the Niccolini Theater, with featured artists including Mira Awad, Shaanan Streett, and the Orchestra del Mare.
Music continues to play a major role throughout the festival with events like Urban Pulse 2026, running from June 1 through September 19 at the LUMEN space. The festival combines music, art, and entertainment while hosting both Italian and international artists, including Django Django, Dead Meadow, Crocodiles, rapper Ensi, and DJ Francesco Farfa.
Florence’s historic atmosphere also became part of the experience during Sagrati in Musica 2026, a free music festival organized by Toscana Classica from June 4 through September 6. Concerts will take place in iconic locations such as the Florence Cathedral and the Basilica of Santa Croce, blending live performance with the city’s historic setting.
Film lovers can also enjoy Apriti Cinema, an outdoor film festival running from June 15 through July 26 in Piazza de’ Pitti. Organized in collaboration with Cinema La Compagnia and the Uffizi Galleries, the festival features free screenings and discussions centered on independent and international cinema.
Dance and performance art will also take over Florence’s historic spaces this summer. Corpo Celeste returns with In Chiostri from July 13 to 24, transforming cloisters and sacred sites into spaces for reflection and movement through performances focused on the human body and vulnerability. In addition, the Florence Dance Performing Arts Festival returns for its 37th year from June 23 through July 28 at Santa Maria Novella, featuring international dance companies and performances such as Carmina Burana by the Portuguese Vortice Dance Company.
July will also feature Festival au Désert Firenze, celebrating musical traditions from Africa, the Mediterranean, and Europe through performances and cultural exchange. The festival season continues into September with events including the Florence Jazz Festival, which will host concerts throughout the Oltrarno district and historic villas across the city.
Estate Fiorentina concludes with Genius Loci: Discovering Santa Croce from September 24 through 26, combining talks, performances, and concerts inside the Santa Croce complex. The festival’s traditional sunrise concert will once again close the event, ending the summer with one of Florence’s most unique cultural experiences.
By bringing performances and cultural events directly into public spaces, Estate Fiorentina continues to make art and culture feel accessible throughout the city. Whether attending a concert in a historic piazza or watching a film outdoors on a warm summer night, the festival offers both residents and visitors a different way to experience Florence.
