The Indie Spirit of the Firenze Film Festival
The Firenze Film Festival returns with shorts films by Italian and international filmmakers–this annual event has been held in Florence since 2018. This year’s edition takes place on Friday, September 13, at the Astra Cinema. Viewers can enjoy the works of film producers for free, and all of the movies are either in English or have English subtitles. The event starts at 7 pm with a feature film from Germany, titled ”Surviving Brandenburg.” The short indie films will be screened afterwards, from 9:10 pm to 10:35 pm. Entrance is free.
The festival creators emphasize the need to support independent, talented artists. They have carefully selected a diverse group of movies, showcasing many genres and styles, not only from Europe, but also from the USA. Below are some examples of short films that will be screened at The Firenze Film Festival.
There are two entries in the animated movie category. One, from Switzerland creator Marcel Hobi, named ” Love Bubbles.” It is a relationship drama focusing on a couple’s future together. In contrast, Julia Hazuka from Poland made an animation reimagining the history of humanity’s origins – ”The Grand Mother.” Another film set in the alternate realty is ”Eindis Ends It All,” directed by Tamara Rosenfeld from the USA. It tells the story of a stranded girl in a post-apocalyptic world, who has to find herself in a solitude. For the viewers who prefer documentaries, Francesco D’Ascenzo offers a portrayal of a complicated father-son bond. The Firenze Film Festival will showcase a total of seven films – one feature film and six short films. This event offers cinema enthusiasts the opportunity to watch productions from various parts of Europe (and the USA). (Paulina Juzak)
