The Oct. 2 ‘Corri La Vita’ Annual Charity Run for Life

Corri La Vita (Run for Life) is an annual charity run that aims to help people diagnosed with breast cancer and contribute to the public health system of Florence with treatments and research. In its 20th edition, the race will take place in Florence on October 2, allowing the attendees to support a great cause and discover several city attractions and spots in the meanwhile. The participants are invited to meet in the spaces of Viale Lincoln at starting line in the Cascine Park at 9:15 am.  Close by, a stage is set up for friends and testimonials of Corri La Vita to make connections through the official channels of the event.

For almost two decades, the event has been fundraising for projects dedicated to the people living with breast cancer and post-treatment stages both physically and psychologically, along with initiatives that wish to raise awareness about reducing the cancer risk. The purpose of the 2022 fundraising is to support the Oncological Rehabilitation Center (Ce. Ri. On) of Villa Delle Rose; SenoNetwork, a site that connects all the Italian Breast Units nationally, and FILE (free home care for terminally cancer patients). In the previous 19 editions, the event has collected and distributed over €7,251,000  and provided quality assistance to over 500,000 women.

Registration is open online with a minimum donation of €10. Another way to support the fundraiser is by getting a T-shirt with designer Salvatore Ferragamo’s signature on it through the distribution outlets in the city (see the list below). This year’s T-shirt is fluorescent green and wrapped in bio-compostable packaging. The logo also features a flag to celebrate the 20th year of the event. As in previous years, participants with the Corri la Vita T-shirt or the receipt of the donation will be granted free access to a series of cultural destinations in and around Florence during the afternoon, including exhibitions and museums.  These include: the Olafur Eliasson show in Palazzo Strozzi; the Galileo Science Museum; the Ferragamo Museum; the Novecento Museum of 20th and 21st Century Art; Palazzo Vecchio; the Gucci Gardens; the Bardini Museum; the Innocenti Museum in piazza Santissima Annunizata; and the Stibbert Museum, among others.

This non-competitive sporting event comprises two different track options. The first one is about 11 km (6.8mi) long for runners. The other one is a gentler length of 6 km (3.7mi) long for those who prefer to admire the city attractions along the way. Both tracks will pass by some cultural destinations such as the Granaio dell’Abbondanza and the Palagio di Parte Guelfa. Participants are encouraged to share photos and stories on their socials using the hashtags #corrilavita2022, #clv2022, and #corrilavita20 by tagging @corrilavita.  (elif aytemiz)
