Violinist Francesca Dego and Ukrainian/Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska will be on stage with the ORT

A LIVE CONCERT IN STREAMING will be offered by the musicians of the Orchestra della Toscana (ORT) conducted by Dalia Stasevska with soloist Francesca Dego (violin) on the Teatro Verdi stage at 9 pm.   The show will be broadcast on the orchestra’s YouTube and Facebook channels.

The featured pieces will be Beethoven’s monumental Symphony no. 5, op. 67 in C minor (1808) and Sibelius’s Concerto in D minor op. 47 for violin and orchestra, a piece requiring extreme skill on the part of the soloist.  She will perform on a violin made by Francesco Ruggeri of Cremona in 1697.

Renowned Italian-American violinist Francesca Dego studied under Salvatore Accardo.  Conductor Dalia Stasevska is making her debut with ORT, but is well known in the music world as a talented artist.  Born in the Ukraine, she grew up in Finland and married the great-grandson of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865 – 1957), who is showcased in tonight’s program.  Stasevska is the principal guest conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and has been appointed principal conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra in Finland.
