LIVE CONCERT IN STREAMING: Alexander Lonquich, esteemed pianist and eclectic musician, be conducting and soloing in a live streamed performance with the ORT.  Premiering Thursday, March 4 at 9 pm, the show will be broadcast on the orchestra’s YouTube and Facebook channels. The featured pieces will be Beethoven’s “Fourth Concerto” for piano and orchestra (1806) and Mozart’s “Jupiter’s Symphony” (1788), two distinguished masterpieces.

The two pieces are considered to be pivotal for the transition from 18th century to the 19th in part due to their grandiose compositions and their ability to capture and hold the audience’s attention for their entire duration.

Lonquich, along with his wife Cristina Barbuti, founded the Kantoratelier, a space to study the arts. He is also the artistic director of the School of Music of Fiesole since July 2020 and conductor of the Orchestra of the Olympic Theater of Venice and has worked with notable names such as Claudio Abbado, Ton Koopman, and Emmanuel Krivine.  (stephanie klein)
