Wine & Art for a Cause in Ognissanti

Tuscany is known for its delectable wines, and this weekend brings a rare opportunity to sample wines and see Renaissance art. A nonprofit association “Obiettivo Francesco” which offers many children healthcare, food and schooling has organized the Wine&Art Charity event in the church of Ognissanti on Saturday, October 7.  Tickets cost €10 and all proceeds will contribute to building a playground for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Bethlehem.

The public will have the opportunity to taste some of the finest wines. A selection will be provided by following estates: Marchesi Frescobaldi, Fattoria I Veroni, Marchesi Gondi-Tenuta Bossi, Frascole, Fattoria Lavacchio, Cantine Fratelli Bellini, Podere il Pozzo, Travignoli di Conte Busi, Azienda Agricola Colognole, Fattoria Selvapiana, Azienda Le Coste, and the Castello del Trebbio.

During the wine tasting from 3 – 8 pm, visitors choose to participate in a guided tour around the church to see Ghirlandio’s The Last Supper, Cimabue’s Crucifix, and the tombs of famous explorer Amerigo Vespucci and Renaissance painter Botticelli. The church is also hosting an exhibition of art works by Maurizio Baccili, Marco Cardini, Giovanni Chilleri, Claudio Cionini, Marta Motti, Silvio Sodi, and MBU-69.

Following this at 8:45 pm, there will be an orchestral concert under the guidance of classical music master, Federico Bonetti Amendola.

Another fundraiser will take place in the church on Saturday, October 14 and will include a concert by pianist Giuseppe Fricelli at 9 pm. The musical entertainment will be followed by an aperitivo.
