Upcoming films at the Odeon Cinema filled with tense drama, wartime ferocity and grinding rock and roll are certain to keep audiences on the edge of their seats and biting their nails. All films will be screened in English with Italian subtitles.

 Saturday Feb. 18 & Sunday Feb. 19 (6:30 pm): ARRIVAL

In this Oscar nominated science fiction drama, Amy Adams gives a stunning performance as a professor of linguistics. When 12 spacecraft appear around the world linguist Louise Banks and her team enact a race against time to unravel a puzzle and thwart a world war. Also starring Forest Whitaker and Jeremy Renner.

 Saturday Feb. 18 (4 & 9 pm), Sunday Feb. 19 (4 pm): HACKSAW RIDGE

Directed by Mel Gibson this true story retells the incredible feat of Desmond Doss, the only conscientious objector ever to win the US Congressional Medal of Honor.   Through an amazing act of valor, Doss saved 75 of his fellow soldiers trapped behind enemy lines without carrying or using a gun but remaining true to his pacifist convictions. Warning: The film contains prolonged scenes of graphic violence.

Tuesday Feb. 21 and Wednesday Feb. 22 (4:30, 6:30 & 9 pm): GIMME DANGER

Director Jim Jarmusch’s documentary chronicles the emergence of Iggy Pop and the Stooges on the rock music scene of the late 1960s. The band’s provocative and aggressive blend of rock, R & B, jazz and blues set the stage for what would later become punk rock.  (rita kungel)
