‘Inferno’s’ Premiere at Teatro dell’Opera

Florence’s new Opera House, the Teatro dell’Opera, was the venue chosen for the October 8 world premiere of “Inferno,” a Ron Howard production based on the Dan Brown novel starring Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones largely filmed in the Renaissance city.  A red carpet was rolled out to greet guests including premier Matteo Renzi, the entire cast of “Inferno,” Ron Howard, Dan Brown, Italian movie stars such as Pierfrancesco Favino, Florence mayor Dario Nardella, as well as the past and present coaches of the Fiorentina soccer team, Cesare Prandelli and Paulo Sousa.

In keeping with the theme of the movie, the flames were projected on the facade of the Teatro dell’Opera, along with a mask of Dante Alighieri and a verse from the poet’s “Inferno”: “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.”  To see a photo gallery, visit Florence’s La Repubblica news site.
