International Education Conference in Florence

International Education Conference in FlorenceFlorence is a center for study abroad students from around the world, adding a vibrant edge to this historic city that lingers in this Renaissance city.  Over a period of two days, Syracuse University Florence and Gonzaga University Florence are partnering to present their second annual conference on international education.

Scheduled talks cover a range of talks by Italian study-abroad departments including Richmond University Rome, Syracuse University London, John Hopkins University SAIS Bologna, and ACCENT Study Center Florence (plus more).  Other speakers include two Italian attorneys to discuss the legal side of international education.

This year’s theme revolves around human capital management and developments in transnational education.  Topics will especially be of interest to educators, students, and international visitors, with lectures such as: “Defining Mental Health Concerns and Implications in Study Abroad,” “Experience Education in Rome,” “Copyright and Intellectual Property: if faculty teach for more than one institution, who owns the syllabus?”

Split between two days, the Friday sessions with be hosted at Syracuse University’s office at Piazzale Savonarola 15.  Saturday’s events will be held at Gonzaga University on Via Giorgio la Pira 11.  Admission is free, but attendees are requested to register at mtarnopo@syr.edu.  More details are available online at http://suflorence.syr.edu/.  (jess estrada)
