Nov. 2017 Transport & Museum Strike

Government employees have declared a strike that will take place on Friday, November 10, due to affect regional trains, ATAF bus services and certain state-run museums.

Trains running in Tuscany will not be available from 9 pm on Thursday Nov. 9 to the following day at 9 pm, Fri. 10. Those, however wanting to go to neighboring regions will be able to reach the big cities with the Freccia Rossa high-speed train.

For people needing to get to work, public transportation is only available during part of the day. ATAF buses will still run between 6 and 9 am and will start up again between 12 and 3 pm. From the afternoon there will be no more buses circulating until the following day at 6 am.

Because of the strike, visitors will find the following museums only be open during the morning: (8:15 am – 1:50 pm), the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery (closes at 1:30 pm), the Silver Museum, the Palatine Gallery, the Modern Art Museum and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure. (karen gee)
