Open Day at the Fiesole Music School

The Fiesole Music School

The Fiesole Music School invites the public to attend an ‘Open Day’ at their headquarters in the historic Villa La Torraccia (Via delle Fontanelle 4, San Domenico di Fiesole) on Saturday, May 6 beginning at 3 pm. The classes of the wind and brass instruments will open their doors to all interested and potential students who wish to give these fascinating orchestral instruments a try.

The teachers, many of whom are principal players at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, and the docents and soloists of the Department of Winds will present study programs of the pre-academic and three-year courses for flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and French horn, with the help of some of their students.

The Fiesole Music School, founded by Piero Farulli, has developed during over the year various didactic methods adapted to the needs of the students. Beginning at the age of four, children can participate in the group ‘Piccolissimi Musici,’ from 11-12 years old they can be part of the ‘Orchestra dei Ragazzi.’ Older children and teens can aim to perform with the ‘Orchestra Giovanile Italiana’ (Italian Youth Orchestra).

Visitors will be able to discover all the musical activities of the School, from individual lessons on one’s own instrument, to group lessons for theory and chamber music. Those who already have an instrument should bring their own to play in the different ensembles of the School, and take the opportunity to become active in the musical world of Fiesole.
