A Sports & Street Food Weekend at Campo di Marte

Piazza Campioni, next to the Franchi stadium in Campo di Marte, will host a three-day fair on April 6 – 8. Nine food trucks and a sports village comprised of 24 sports associations are set to provide a memorable experience for children and adults alike.

Following a successful 2017 event with a record of over 20,000 visitors, this year’s edition has expanded to include even more sports activities. From golf to fencing, running and Nordic walking, gymnastics to baseball and basketball, tai chi to volleyball, plus many more; there is a sport for everyone to try free of charge. The sports village is open from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 3:30 to 5 pm.

Activities such as tai chi, basketball, volleyball, baseball, golf, running, boxing and many more will be available to try free of charge. Reasonably-priced culinary delights include panini, Roman style pizza, fried fish, Indian cuisine, burgers and more. Special highlights include wood-smoked cuisine from Phil’s Slow Smoked American Barbeque, the Panino Tondo sandwiches and Pescepane seafood.

Not only will there be street food, but also street art. An artistic mural will be created along the back wall of the parking area, involving street artists in collaboration with the City of Florence.

Sports and entertainment, including live music and radio shows by Lady Radio, will alternate from 5 to 8 pm on Friday and 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The street food fair will remain open for snacks and delicious foods until 10 pm. (izzy lunow)
