Bike Sharing Arrives in Florence

Bike sharing will arrive in Florence starting August 2, with 500 bikes (destined to increase to 4,000 by October) all available to rent for a minimum of a half hour.  To be able to access the Mobikes left throughout the city by previous users and readily identifiable by their orange wheels, one must download an app to be able to find the bike that is the closest and to pay the costs prior to opening the lock.

Expenditures comprise 30 cents per every half hour (which will be increased to 50 cents starting in September) and a reimbursable security deposit of €1, €50 from the fall onwards.

During the same week, a city bike sharing system was inaugurated in Milan.
