British Institute Lecture in English on Piazza Santissima Annunziata

The British Institute’s resident Art Historian, Jeremy Boudreau will give the lecture: “La Piazza della Santissima Annunziata – A Renaissance Crossway of Faith, Charity and Hope” via the Zoom platform on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 pm  (meeting ID: 276 957 5320, password: 970164).

This online lecture will offer a virtual guided visit to one of Florence’s many beautiful urban spaces: the Piazza Santissima Annunziata. From the eponymous Servite church and its conspicuous miracle-working image of the Virgin Mary, to the city’s first corporate-sponsored foundling hospital, this piazza has it all: rich artistic and social history, evocative architecture, and a special place in the hearts of Florentines past and present.

A donation (however much is comfortable for you) if you wish to participate in the session. Donations will help keep the Institute afloat at this difficult time; and 50% of the money received will go to “Il Cuore di Firenze Foundation”  which are raising funds for urgently needed ventilators in Florence.  In the first two weeks of the partnership, The British Institute of Florence was able to give €1,200 to purchase vital hospital equipment during the Coronavirus emergency.

Jeremy Boudreau joined the British Institute as Head of History of Art in 2014. His training is as a museum educator and art historian in the art and culture of Renaissance Italy. Today, he oversees a team of lecturers who contribute to the Institute’s history of art courses and study abroad programming. After graduating with a degree in Museum Education from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Jeremy completed his MA in Art History at Syracuse University as a Florence Fellow. He is an accredited Lecturer for The Arts Society, a member of the Association of Art Historians (AAH) and a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
