E.U.I. Open Day at Villa Salviati

The European University Institute (EUI) invites the public to visit the estate hosting the Historical Archives of the European Union on the annual Open Day, which will take place on Saturday May 12, 2018.  The archives are housed at Villa Salviati (via Bolognese 156, Florence).

The Open Day, celebrates Europe Day and organizers have planned a schedule filled with free cultural, artistic and educational activities for families and children.

At 10 am, the day will open with guided tours to the rooms and gardens of Villa Salviati organized by the Hidden City Association (Città Nascosta).  For the first time, this year the visits will include the main building, which dates to the 15th century, and the chapel of the villa, and will continue in the warehouses, where the archivists will guide the exploration of the funds present inside. From 12 to 1 pm the musicians from the Maggio Musicale Academy will present a concert and at 4:30 to 5:30 pm REMUTO (REalMUsicTOscana) will perform.

For younger visitors during the day there will be shows and circus activities organized by Blanca Theater and Passe Passe.

Food sampling will be offered from 12 – 5 pm by Excellent Gusto.

Throughout the day visitors can enjoy a sculpture exhibit by Roberto Coccoloni.

All events are free and the public is invited.  Villa Salviati is accessible only on foot from gates at via Bolognese, 156 and via Faentina, 261.  The estate can be reached by taking bus #25 from San Marco and parking is also available at Stazione FS Salviati on via Faentina.
