Florence’s Fourth of July 2016
Monday, 4: FESTIVITIES FOR THE FOURTH. Acciaiolo Castle gardens, via Pantin, Scandicci. Tram Line 1, Resistenza stop. 6:30 pm– midnight.
Hoisting the stars and stripes, the town of Scandicci will be as American as apple pie and the host of Florence’s July 4th celebration. The opening musical set will be provided by the Scandicci Band from There will be a pause and hands will be on hearts between 7:30 and 8 pm when the “Star Spangled Banner” and other national hymns will be played. The U.S. Consul General will make an appearance to give a speech and other Florentine authorities will be in attendance. Afterwards, various bands will be performing throughout the night: Rabarbari, Breath Floyd and Nothing for Breakfast. Food and beverages will be provided by Robertinos and Street Food.
Hamburgers and hot dogs, courtesy of the U.S. Army base in Camp Darby, will be grilled throughout the night, and The Scandicci Social Party will be selling T-shirts to benefit “Help the Children Florence.” Just 15 minutes from Santa Maria Novella on the number 1 tram line, look out for the red, white and blue and head in the direction of the barbeque.
