Free Florence Downtown Parking

Thousands of free spots are available at parking garages in Florence and the immediate outskirts 24/7 through May 31, 2020 in an effort to bring people back downtown as shops and restaurants began reopening on May 18.  This also in view of the fact that there is still limited ATAF city transport service:  during post-lockdown transition period, buses are running only up until 9 pm.

Currently, the ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) is in force and the Florence city center is off-limits to non-resident traffic from 7 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 7 am to 4 pm on Saturday.  Security cameras photograph license plate of cars that enter the area.  But, if a person decides to park in the city center up to the end of the month, public garages will transmit the license plate number to the city police and the traffic ticket will not be issued nor sent and the car left at no charge.  (rosanna cirigliano)
