Due to the Coronavirus health emergency now worldwide, the 2020 Pitti Immagine trade fair schedule has been significantly modified.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 98 which will unveil spring/summer men’s styles for 2021, has been postponed from June to September 2-4, ditto for Pitti Bimbo 91 children’s fashion, which will take place on September 9-10.  The dates for Fragranze perfume and fragrance fair will remain the same: September 11-13.  A decision has not yet been reached for Pitti Filati 87’s new dates, although the textile and yarns fair has been confirmed for 2020.

The Taste food fair, which had been moved forward from March to June, now will skip a year and will now be held from March 13-15, 2021.  Testo, a new literary fair with many international guests which was to make its debut following Taste, has been rescheduled during the second half of February, 2021.

All Pitti shows are hosted by the Fortezza da Basso.

“September is the moment for the international fashion scene to relaunch and an economic and cultural renaissance in all of Italy” said Florence mayor Dario Nardella.

As for recent local Coronavirus statistics, those recorded on April 3 (a total of 226) showed an improvement over April 2, when a record 406 new cases were reported in Tuscany.  The upswing was attributed to increased testing, especially in nursing homes where the elderly are at risk.  There were, however, 22 deaths on April 3, a jump from the 15 announced on April 2.  The intensive care occupancy rate at regional hospitals decreased during the same period.  The number of patients in Tuscany has now reached 4,409, with testing carried out on 44,460 residents.
