FREE LIBERATION DAY CELEBRATIONS. During the holiday some of the shops might
be closed, but the city offers special cultural programs throughout the weekend. Some
museums will offer free admission. Public celebrations include: 8 am: Flag raising in
front of Palazzo Vecchio; 9:30 am: wreathing ceremony held at Piazza dell’Unità Italiana
in honor of war victims; 10:15 am: talks by city officials given at Arengario Palazzo
Vecchio, followed by a band concert by Gioacchino Rossini Philharmonic.

IRIS GARDEN OPENING. Piazzale Michelangelo. 10 am – 12:30 pm, 3 – 7 pm. Free
admission.

INTERNATIONAL CRAFTS FAIR. Fortezza da Basso. Open from 10 am – 10 pm.
Admission: €8, weekdays €6 for under 25 and over 65. Children under 12 are free with
an adult, and there is free admission after 8 pm. Closes at 8 pm on May 1.

TALK BY JASON ARKLES: Jason Arkles is an American sculptor, art historian,
podcaster and author living in Florence. He is responsible for the life-size statue of St
Mark outside St Mark’s English Church. St. Mark’s Church. 7 pm.

EXHIBITIONS:

the museum ticket.

L’INCANTO DI ORFEO. Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Open 9 am – 7 pm. Admission: €15.

ANSELM KIEFER: FALLEN ANGELS. Palazzo Strozzi, Piazza Strozzi. Open 10 am –
11 pm. Admission: €16.
