Valentine Week Food & Wine Specials at Pino’s

Pino leading a wine tasting at Pozzo DiVino

Salumeria Verdi, aka “Pino’s Sandwiches” on via Verdi 36 has three specials lined up for Valentine’s week.  Wednesday, February 12, is “Coccoli Day” from 5 – 8 pm, when Pino and his family will make Tuscan fried dough balls (coccoli) right on the spot, then fill them with Nutella and serve to guests (€1 for a large coccolo, €2 for an extra-large one).

Friday, February 13 is “Galenwine Day” at Pino’s Enoteca DiVino (via Ghibellina 144/r); Pino and his daughter Martina will personally conduct two guided wine tastings from 4:30 – 6:30 pm and again between 7 – 9 pm.  Two reds (a Chianti Classico and a Super Tuscan) in addition to a white wine are provided, served with prosciutto, salame and pecorino cheese.  A tasting of olive oil and balsamic vinegar is included.  The cost is €15 per person; for reservations call 055/244517.

The “Cupid’s” (Cupino) sandwich will offered as the once-a-year Valentine Day’s special on February 14 at the Salumeria Verdi from 11 am to 8 pm.  The “Cupino” consists of thinly sliced finocchiona salame, brie cheese, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and a choice of truffle or hot sauce, which is layered within schiacciata bread.  (rosanna cirigliano)
